Ringflash Adapter
A ring flash is a really estrange piece of kit. The light comes from around the lens creating a shadowless rendering of your subject. The ringflash ‘look’ is often associated with fashion photography and expensive, dedicated equipment.
It was a big surprise seeing this innovative flash modifier, that bends the light from a speedlite around the lens to create (approximately) the same effect, with a very portable solution. The fact that the camera system still preserves the E-TTL capabilities for metering makes you truly mobile.
Here’s an image of the product (bathroom mirror self-portrait

And a first quick test with my in-house models
It really looks promising and I’ll be taking it for a ride in upcoming shoots. Keep tuned for a more detailed review of it!

Hey Gerard!
Just wondering, is that a commerical ringlight adapter, or homemade? I’ve seen write-ups on the ‘net using two speedlights, but I don’t recall one that uses just one. Is this hot-shoe mounted?

Gerard,
since you are an avid flash photographer, I assume you have seen “a better bounce card”? I made myself one on Saturday specifically for a wedding shoot and was impressed.

Hi Gerard, there seems to be massive light loss on the botton of the ring. It shows in teh housemodels eyes also where the ring in their eyes is only the top half and bit of the ring.

Hi Gernard, I just stumbled upon you article here and I was wondering whether you have come to an conclusion if this flashring is good or not ? Or as “Michael” stated, that it has a large light drop off at the bottom of the ring.
