  1. Because high speed sync works by emitting several flash pulses, the power is significantly reduced – the flash can not handle several full power pulses at the speed required for high speed sync.
    So instead of having a 1/1000s 1/1 power pulse, you might get something like a 1/200s 1/2 power (or less) pulse. This might not be enough for lighting f/16 or for stopping water.
